Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes and Cardiovascular Health Among Offspring in Early Adulthood

Is exposure to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes, or preterm birth associated with cardiovascular health among offspring in young adulthood?In this cohort study of 1333 mother-child dyads enrolled at the child’s birth, exposure to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy was associated with higher body mass index, diastolic blood pressure, and glycated hemoglobin levels and with early arterial injury among offspring at 22 years.The findings suggest offspring exposure to adverse pregnancy outcomes, particularly hypertensive disorders during gestation, may be associated with worse cardiovascular health and early arterial injury in young adulthood.
