All-Cause and Cause-Specific Mortality in Patients With Bipolar II Disorder

Is bipolar II disorder associated with increased long-term mortality risk?In this cohort study of 11 427 participants with bipolar II disorder, patients had higher all-cause mortality risk compared with individuals without bipolar II disorder. Participants with bipolar II disorder had an increased mortality from both natural causes and unnatural causes, such as suicide.This study’s results suggest the need for integrated psychiatric care and targeted suicide prevention for people with bipolar II disorder.
