Do bottom-vented bottles reduce the risk of mild gastrointestinal discomfort (MGD) in infants compared with teat-vented bottles? In this randomized clinical trial of 1055 infants aged 0 to 90 days, MGD prevalence at week 2 was not significantly different between the bottom-vented group (35.5%) and the teat-vented group (37.9%). However, an exploratory post hoc subgroup analysis suggested a potential benefit in infants aged 61 to 90 days, with a significantly lower prevalence in the bottom-vented group (21.1% vs 47.1%).These findings suggest potential benefits of bottom-vented bottles for decreasing the risk of MGD in infants older than 60 days.
