What is the same-day availability of naloxone without a prescription across US retail pharmacies following its approval for over-the-counter sale?In this cross-sectional study of 1108 pharmacies, 61.4% of pharmacies reported same-day naloxone availability without a prescription, often located at the pharmacy counter, and a mean cost of $52.07. Corporate chains and communities with higher proportions of White residents were more likely to offer naloxone. These findings suggest that naloxone access still depends on location and pharmacy type, highlighting the urgent need to make this medication affordable and available to everyone, everywhere.
