Socioeconomic Disparities in Lung Cancer Screening Participation

Are sociodemographic and socioeconomic factors associated with participation in a risk-based lung cancer screening program?In this cohort study of 34 592 women, higher education, higher income, and favorable living conditions were associated with the initial questionnaire completion to enter the screening process. Conversely, women from lower socioeconomic groups were less likely to participate in the initial stage, yet more likely to meet the eligibility criteria for screening with low-dose computed tomography.These findings suggest the design of the initial risk-selection in lung cancer screening must actively promote equal access to avoid excluding high-risk groups from the outset.
