Bevacizumab and Platinum Choice in Pembrolizumab-Treated Advanced Cervical Cancer

Is platinum agent choice (cisplatin vs carboplatin) or bevacizumab addition associated with overall survival in patients with advanced cervical cancer receiving first-line pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy?In this multinational comparative effectiveness study that included 1931 patients, cisplatin and carboplatin (623 pairs) showed equivalent overall survival; bevacizumab addition (455 pairs) was associated with an early survival benefit, mainly during the first 12 months and diminishing during longer follow-up.These findings suggest that cisplatin and carboplatin are interchangeable when combined with pembrolizumab for advanced cervical cancer, and bevacizumab provides early survival benefit in appropriately selected patients, although prospective validation is required.
