Sex-Based Disparities in Health Care Access and Utilization Among Patients With Atrial Fibrillation

Among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), are females more likely than males to report barriers to health care access and utilization?In this cross-sectional study of 12 428 patients with AF, females were significantly more likely than males to report barriers in 14 of 20 health care access and utilization outcomes, even after adjustment for baseline sociodemographic and clinical characteristics.The findings showed that females with AF reported a greater burden of barriers to care, highlighting potential targets for which action may advance equity in AF care.
