Mexico-Based Accompaniment Collectives for Abortion in the US After

What are the characteristics of requests in the US for self-managed medication abortion support through Mexico-based accompaniment collectives?This cross-sectional study using records for 2850 requests from 2 Mexico-based accompaniment collectives in 2023 found that use of accompaniment collective support was associated with living in a state with a complete abortion ban and living in areas with higher poverty levels, levels of uninsurance, and larger Spanish-speaking populations.These findings suggest that accompaniment collectives supporting people to self-manage their abortion using evidence-based protocols are important care sources for people with limited access to abortion clinics, with fewer resources, and who face language barriers.
