Combined Oral Contraceptive Use and Binge Eating

Are combined oral contraceptives (COCs) associated with increased binge eating (BE)?In this survey study of 422 women using COCs across 49 days, significantly increased BE was observed when women were using active vs inactive COC hormone pills.These findings suggest that COCs mimic the riskiest hormonal milieu for BE (ie, when both estrogen and progesterone are present) and are associated with increased risk for BE.
