Electronic Health Record Alerts for Early Human Papillomavirus Vaccination

Are electronic health record (EHR) alerts with or without clinician education associated with early human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination (ie, vaccination among youths aged 9 to 10 years)?In this quality improvement study of 15 743 youths, EHR alerts with clinician education were associated with a 39% higher likelihood of early HPV vaccine initiation compared with alerts alone.These results suggest that a light-touch intervention such as EHR alerts combined with clinician education may be sufficient to shift HPV vaccination to ages 9 and 10 years.
