Are hypertensive disorders of pregnancy associated with child developmental patterns, and do associations vary by subtype? This cohort study among 14 023 mother-child pairs found that early-onset preeclampsia was associated with higher risks of delay in problem solving. This association was modified by preterm birth. These findings suggest that among pregnant individuals with hypertensive disorders, expectant management should be adopted when possible and children exposed to preeclampsia in utero require monitoring in their progression in problem solving, irrespective of whether they were born at term.
