Is adherence to the new Planetary Health Diet (PHD) pattern associated with lower risks of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women with a history of gestational diabetes (GD)?In this cohort study of 4633 women with a history of GD, greater adherence to the PHD was associated with a lower risk of myocardial infarction, while associations with overall CVD and T2D were inverse but largely mediated by body mass index. Additionally, decreasing adherence to the PHD was associated with greater weight gain. These findings suggest that the PHD pattern may play an important role in improving cardiometabolic health and supporting weight management in women with a history of GD.
