Can a self-help smartphone app reduce depressive symptoms among individuals with intellectual disabilities (IDs)?In this randomized clinical trial including 99 participants with IDs, the use of a self-help smartphone app for an intervention period of 4 weeks significantly reduced depressive symptoms compared with the waiting list control condition in intention-to-treat analyses.Smartphone app–based self-help interventions can provide effective support to reduce depressive symptoms in individuals with IDs.
