Is ammoxetine safe and effective for treating major depressive disorder (MDD)?In this randomized clinical trial in 239 adult patients with MDD, both ammoxetine 40 mg/d and 60 mg/d significantly decreased the total score of the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale from baseline to week 8 compared with placebo. The incidence and nature of adverse events were similar among groups. These findings support the safety and efficacy of ammoxetine in the treatment of MDD, providing a basis for phase 3 validation.
