What is the association of a Housing First (HF) intervention with the mortality rates of homeless individuals with mental illnesses in 5 Canadian cities? In this secondary analysis of data from 2108 participants in a randomized clinical trial, the difference in mortality rates in the HF and treatment as usual (TAU) groups was not statistically significant. The pooled adjusted hazard ratio comparing mortality in the HF and TAU groups was also not statistically significant.Achieving significant reductions in mortality among homeless adults with mental illnesses will likely require additional interventions beyond the provision of stable housing.
