Intralesional Interleukin-2 Therapy for Treatment of Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Is intralesional interleukin-2 (IL-2) immunotherapy effective and safe for patients with high-risk cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) or cSCC in cosmetically sensitive areas?In this case series of 16 patients with histologically confirmed cSCC, there was an 81% complete response rate with use of intralesional IL-2. Patients experienced only grade 1/2 adverse events.In patients who are not operative candidates or those with cSCC in cosmetically sensitive areas, intralesional IL-2 appears to be an effective therapy with no severe adverse events.
