Dupilumab in Patients With Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria

Can dupilumab reduce itch and hives in anti-immunoglobulin E (IgE)−naive patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) uncontrolled by histamine 1–receptor antagonists (H1-AH; antihistamines)?In this randomized clinical trial including 151 participants with CSU, significant improvements in urticaria activity, including itch and hives severity, were found with dupilumab vs placebo at week 24. A pooled analysis of CUPID-A and CUPID-C (N = 289) also showed improvements in itch severity and urticaria activity with dupilumab vs placebo starting from week 3.Dupilumab significantly reduced urticaria activity in anti-IgE–naive patients with CSU who remained symptomatic despite the use of H1-AH.
