What clinical features and laboratory markers are associated with in-hospital mortality among patients with dermatomyositis? In this cohort study of 153 hospitalized patients with dermatomyositis, active rash, interstitial lung disease, and elevated neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio at admission were independently associated with in-hospital mortality.Findings of this study suggest that early recognition of active rash, interstitial lung disease, and elevated neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, which are associated with inpatient mortality in dermatomyositis regardless of disease subtype or autoantibody status, may help guide inpatient risk stratification.
