What is the reliability of a semiautomatic UV reflectance image–based system to assess target vitiligo lesions? In a validation study including 20 patients, the Vitiligo Area Scoring Index (VASI) evaluated in target areas using an image-based system was in good agreement with VASI estimation derived from a highly trained clinician and the objective VASI measure obtained from tracing paper outlines. The findings suggest that the image-based system exhibits comparable reliability to conventional methods for measuring the VASI in target vitiligo areas.
