Using Serious Games to Increase the Implementation of Trauma Triage Guidelines

Can a low-cost, theory-based serious game (a purpose-driven video game) improve emergency physician adherence to trauma triage guidelines for older adults?In this randomized clinical trial, the emergency physicians assigned to play a serious game had a lower proportion of severely injured older adults who were undertriaged (49%) compared with the passive control physicians (57%).A serious game improved guideline-concordant trauma triage among emergency physicians, suggesting a novel approach to improve adherence to clinical guidelines.
