What Is JAMA Network Open?

CHICAGO – JAMA Network Open is the new online-only open access general medical journal from the JAMA Network.

Every Wednesday and Friday, the journal publishes peer-reviewed clinical research and commentary from more than 40 medical and health subject areas. Every article is free online from the day of publication.

JAMA Network Open follows the same rigorous peer review, editorial and publishing standards as the other JAMA Network journals. JAMA Network Open is the 13th journal in the JAMA Network, which includes JAMA and 11 specialty journals. JAMA Network Open’s first online issue was May 18, 2018.

Frederick P. Rivara, M.D., M.P.H., is the new journal’s founding editor in chief. Dr. Rivara, the former editor in chief of JAMA Pediatrics, is Seattle Children’s Guild Endowed Chair in Pediatrics, Professor of Pediatrics and adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Washington.

The launch of JAMA Network Open follows JAMA Cardiology in 2016 and JAMA Oncology in 2015.
