P2Y12 Inhibitors and Mortality in Patients Hospitalized With Intracerebral Hemorrhage

What is the association between prior P2Y purinergic receptor 12 (P2Y12) inhibitor antiplatelet use, stroke severity, and in-hospital outcomes among patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)?In this cohort study of 252 691 patients with ICH not associated with anticoagulation, use of P2Y12 inhibitors before ICH was associated with more severe strokes, in-hospital death, and worse functional outcomes compared with aspirin monotherapy or no antiplatelet use.Among patients with spontaneous ICH in this study, prior use of P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy or in combination with aspirin was not uncommon and was associated with more severe strokes and worse clinical outcomes.
