Cost Offset With Quadruple Therapy for Heart Failure

Among US adults hospitalized with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), what is the projected 1-year cost offset with quadruple guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) after discharge?In this economic evaluation including data for 50 598 Medicare-linked adults hospitalized with HFrEF, mean 1-year total costs were $41 802 per patient. Modeled quadruple GDMT was associated with a 61% (95% CI, 51%-68%) reduction in all-cause hospitalizations and $9780 lower hospitalization-associated expenditures, with net annual costs ranging from $8556 in savings to $6347 in net cost.Quadruple GDMT delivers substantial cost offsets after HFrEF hospitalization, with net savings dependent on drug prices.
