Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes and Sedentary Behavior, Light-Intensity Physical Activity, and Daily Steps

Is sitting less and moving more associated with lower risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes?In 470 pregnant participants, sitting 10 or more hours per day vs 7 h/d was associated with higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Engaging in 7 h/d vs 3 h/d of light-intensity physical activity was associated with lower risk. Associations were robust to adjustment for moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity and prepregnancy body mass index.Sitting less and moving more at light intensity were associated with lower risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes.
