Treatment Delays in Early Age–Onset Colorectal Cancer

What are the demographic and clinical patterns in early age–onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) that determine poor outcomes in a heterogeneous population?In this population-based cross-sectional study of 112 672 patients with colorectal cancer in Texas, 12 079 (11%) of whom had EOCRC, patients with EOCRC were more likely to be Hispanic, have left-sided or rectal tumors, and present with advanced-stage disease. Treatment delays were associated with worse overall survival, and the presence of a language barrier was identified as a key social risk factor contributing to treatment delays in this population.The presence of a language barrier is a potential target for future interventions in patients with EOCRC.
