State Policy Environment and Geographic Practice Preference Among Sexual and Gender Minority Medical Students

In this cross-sectional study, state-level policy environment was significantly associated with anticipated future practice setting preference of medical students, particularly SGM medical students; this association persisted after adjustment for demographic, professional, and temporal factors, and was resistant to extreme missing-data assumptions. Policy environment may be meaningfully associated with the anticipated distribution of the physician workforce.
