Advanced Medical Care at Home Among Patients With Acute Heart Failure

Among patients initially hospitalized for acute heart failure, does an advanced medical care at home (AMCAH) program offer comparable safety and quality compared with continued brick-and-mortar (BAM) hospitalization?In this cohort study including 307 propensity-matched pairs, there were no differences in all-cause readmission, mortality, or guideline-directed medical therapy utilization at 30 and 60 days after discharge between patients from AMCAH and those who continued BAM hospitalization.These findings suggest that in patients hospitalized with acute heart failure, an AMCAH program with clinician-determined eligibility is a reasonable alternative to continued BAM hospitalization, with comparable safety and quality after discharge.
