Street-Based Hepatitis C Treatment and Patient Experiences Among Adults Experiencing Unsheltered Homelessness

What are the perspectives of patients experiencing unsheltered homelessness who are engaged in street-based hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment?In this qualitative study with 15 participants, adults experiencing unsheltered homelessness described common facilitators and barriers to HCV care, identified far-reaching psychosocial benefits of engaging with treatment beyond just achieving cure, and called for increased outreach and education about HCV treatment.These findings suggest that street-based models of care are a promising approach to increasing access to HCV treatment for patients experiencing unsheltered homelessness; policy changes facilitating widespread access to HCV treatment are needed.
