Does a digitally enabled, multifaceted, quality improvement intervention improve low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) control among patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease? In this cluster randomized clinical trial including 1465 patients across 28 outpatient clinics, the intervention resulted in a statistically significant reduction in mean LDL-C concentration at 6 months and higher rates of LDL-C target attainment and intensive combination lipid-lowering therapy compared with usual care. Results of this study show that digitally enabled, multifaceted, quality improvement strategies can improve lipid management and reduce evidence-practice gaps in secondary cardiovascular prevention in real-world settings.
