Resuscitation Quality Improvement Program for CPR Training and Cardiac Arrest Survival in Hospitals

Has the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) program for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training every calendar quarter improved survival for in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) in US hospitals?In this cohort study (18 RQI and 107 control hospitals), hospitals that adopted the RQI program did not have improved rates of survival to discharge or return of spontaneous circulation for IHCA in the 2 years after implementation, when compared with control hospitals.Although improving CPR quality in US hospitals is a high priority, these findings suggest that a program focused solely on CPR delivery may not be sufficient to improve IHCA survival.
